Scripture

We affirm that the Bible—containing the Old and New Testaments—is the only infallible, inspired Word of God. Its authority is ultimate, final, and eternal. Nothing may be added to, taken from, or replaced by it. The Bible is the sole source of all doctrine, instruction, correction, and reproof, and it supplies everything needed for godly living and practical Christian conduct.

The Trinity

It is the testimony of both the Old and New Testaments and of the Christian Church that God is both One and Triune. Scripture reveals that there is only one God who exists eternally in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God the Father is the creator and sustainer of all things; He made the universe in love, formed man in His own image for fellowship, and called humanity back to Himself through Christ after the rebellion and fall.

Jesus Christ is eternally God. He was with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, and through Him all things were made. For humanity’s redemption He left heaven, became incarnate by the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary, and remains forever one Christ with two natures—God and man—in one person.

The Holy Spirit is God, the Lord and giver of life. He was active in the Old Testament and was given to the Church in fullness at Pentecost. He empowers believers for service and witness, cleanses from the old nature, and conforms us to the image of Christ. Baptism in the Holy Spirit follows conversion, releases the Spirit’s fullness, and is shown by the fruits and gifts of the Spirit.

Salvation

Scripture clearly teaches that salvation is God’s free gift, grounded in the merits of His Son’s death and received by faith. It involves personal repentance, belief in the Lord Jesus (justification), and personal acceptance of Him as Lord and Savior (regeneration). The new life in Christ brings the privileges of adoption and inheritance in the kingdom of God’s beloved Son. Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross paid the penalty for the sins of the whole world, yet its benefits apply only to those who receive Jesus as personal Savior. Healing—body, soul, and spirit—along with every provision God has made for His people is secured in the atonement and must be received by faith.

Heathly Christian life

We believe Scripture presents the believer’s life in this world as a balance between what is credited to us in Christ and what is worked into us according to our faith and maturity. God’s provision for His children is complete, and His promises are final and everlasting. Shortcomings in individuals and in the Church arise from the ongoing process of growth. The Christian life includes trials, tests, and spiritual warfare. Those who remain in Christ until death or His return are assured of eternal blessing in God’s presence. Faithfulness in every circumstance depends on the Holy Spirit and a willingness to put personal desires and passions to death.

The church

We believe the church is made up of all who truly trust in Jesus Christ and His atoning death and who receive Him as Lord and Savior. The local church is the means God uses on earth to advance and establish His Kingdom.

Baptism

Scripture gives the Church two ongoing ordinances of the Lord Jesus Christ, reserved for believers.

Baptism is the outward sign of what God has already accomplished in a person’s innermost being and testifies that the individual now belongs to Jesus. It identifies the believer with Christ and is administered in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Communion

Communion commemorates the Lord’s death and is observed in remembrance of Him until He returns. It is an outward action that signifies our active choice to align ourselves to Him.

Marriage

Marriage is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, established by God as the foundation of family and human society. It reflects the sacrificial love and devotion of Christ for His bride, the Church.

Final judgement and reward

We affirm the bodily, personal, second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the saints, the millennium, and the final judgment. That judgment will settle the eternal destiny of both believers and unbelievers according to their relationship to Jesus Christ. With Scripture we also affirm the final state of the new heavens and the new earth.
